Understanding the layout

Seyès ruling combines prominent horizontal and vertical guides with finer horizontal subdivisions. The divisions help a writer place the body of a letter, its taller strokes and any part that extends below the baseline. The pattern is more structured than ordinary ruled paper. Use it with the instructions given by the teacher, because the paper alone does not explain how each letter should occupy the divisions.

Using the sheet

Begin on a clearly identified baseline and leave enough space for the heading and date. When copying a short sentence, keep letter bodies consistent before focusing on speed. For a learner moving from another ruling system, compare one familiar word on both kinds of paper. Print a sample at the intended size before preparing a notebook insert; shrinking a sheet to fit a different paper format changes all of the guide distances.

Choosing the settings

The tool provides its Seyès pattern as a defined ruling rather than renaming an ordinary square grid. Paper size and orientation determine the working area. Use the displayed preview to check that the finer lines remain visible without dominating the darker writing guides. A4 is a practical choice when the paper is to be filed with other A4 classroom sheets.
