Understanding the layout

The page separates a gridded workspace from fields for project reference, date, revision and authorship. The grid helps align equations and sketches but does not establish their units or validity. A calculation should still state its inputs, assumptions and method clearly. The title block provides context when a page is copied or filed; it does not imply that the work has been reviewed.

Using the sheet

Begin with the question being answered and record the relevant quantities with their units. Draw a small explanatory sketch when it makes the method clearer. Keep intermediate steps legible so an error can be located without guessing how a final result was obtained. Fill in the reference and revision details after the page is checked rather than leaving an ambiguous sheet in a project folder.

Choosing the settings

Spacing / size controls the square guide interval. Writing row height controls the title block rows and therefore how much area remains above them. Sheet title adds a custom heading. Choose the paper size before planning a long calculation so the result and its explanation are not forced into the bottom block.

A practical example

Choose A4 and 5 mm spacing, then enter Beam exercise as the sheet title. Download the PDF. The square grid should stop at the title block. Use a separately verified lesson problem and write its assumptions, method and result in the working area.
