Printable Protractor Generator
Print a 180 degree or 360 degree protractor for classroom angle work and drawing practice. Adjust the size and use the center and baseline carefully when transferring an angle to paper.
Understanding the layout
A protractor measures angle around a center. The radius determines how large the instrument appears on the sheet, but it does not change the degrees represented by a direction. To measure an angle, place the center at the vertex and align the baseline with one arm. Read the scale that starts from that arm rather than choosing a number merely because it is closer to the other line.
Using the sheet
Print a sample and verify the center, baseline and clear marking of a right angle. Use a straightedge to extend short angle arms when necessary. For a paper cutout, preserve the center mark and the baseline; a rough cut that removes them makes accurate placement difficult. A transparent material or tracing paper can be useful for seeing the underlying angle, provided the output size and shape remain unchanged.
Choosing the settings
The span selects a half circle or full circle. Radius changes the printed size and must fit on the selected page. Angle reference options add a chosen guide without turning the sheet into an automatic measurement of an uploaded drawing. Use enough radius for neighboring markings to be readable.
A practical example
Open the default half circle layout and download the SVG. The 90 degree direction should be perpendicular to the baseline and pass through the same center as the other rays. Print a sample, align it with a known right angle and check the center placement before using it for an exercise.
Before you print
This is a printable educational guide, not a calibrated instrument. It does not measure angles in photographs. A distorted print or an inaccurate center placement can introduce errors even when the file geometry is correct.

Common question
Will shrinking a circular protractor change its angles?
Uniform shrinking preserves angles mathematically, but small markings become harder to read. Unequal horizontal and vertical scaling distorts the construction and must be avoided.
