Understanding the layout

The default lattice is made from three equally spaced line families at 0, 60 and 120 degrees. Their intersections produce equilateral triangular cells. The spacing value is the perpendicular gap between parallel lines, so it is not the triangle edge length. Keeping that distinction clear avoids scale mistakes when you transfer a design to another material. The adjustable triangle mode changes the diagonal angle and creates a different construction pattern rather than pretending every triangle remains equilateral.

Using the sheet

Use a pencil to trace one triangle, then combine neighboring cells into diamonds, larger triangles and hexagons. This is a convenient way to explore area by counting equal small triangles. For a craft design, choose a repeat that ends on a complete set of cells, and mark where the repeat begins. Use the dot version when you need vertex guides but want to draw the connecting edges yourself.

Choosing the settings

Choose the regular lines for equal triangle geometry. A custom triangle angle is useful for a deliberate sloping motif, not for an exercise that specifically asks for equilateral triangles. Spacing changes the density of the pattern. Paper size controls the number of cells available without altering the requested construction.

A practical example

Choose A4 and keep 5 mm spacing in the regular mode. Download an SVG. Check that the three line directions are horizontal, rising at 60 degrees and falling at 60 degrees. Trace a large triangle whose sides follow those lines, counting the small intervals rather than the number of vertices.
