12 Inch Printable Ruler
Print a twelve inch ruler using a paper format large enough to preserve its full 304.8 mm marked length. The preset starts on landscape Tabloid rather than shrinking the scale onto a smaller page.
Understanding the layout
A4’s long edge is 297 mm and Letter’s is 279.4 mm, both shorter than twelve inches before margins. A full ruler therefore needs larger paper or a different construction. This preset uses one continuous scale; it does not join strips from multiple pages. Measure a long interval after printing to check the driver settings.
Using the sheet
Start with the preset when its dimensions match the task, then change only the settings you actually need. The parent generator linked below explains the wider choice of layouts. Keeping a note of your final settings makes it easier to create another matching sheet later.
Choosing the settings
Select the paper that is physically loaded in your printer. Download the PDF for a dimensioned print and choose Actual size or 100%, rather than Fit. The on screen preview is reduced to fit the browser and is not an actual size measurement. SVG keeps editable vector outlines; PNG is useful when an image file is required.
A practical example
Keep landscape Tabloid and a twelve inch length. Download the PDF and print at 100% on suitable paper. Compare a four inch interval and the full length with a trusted physical ruler.
Before you print
Do not print using Fit on smaller paper and then use the result as a ruler. The tool does not provide tiled assembly.

Can I change this preset before downloading?
Yes. It is a starting configuration, not a locked image. Inspect the updated preview and any fit warning before exporting.
